Time Limits on Completion Certificates: As a small builder, I started a small extension just over two years ago. All the work is complete except for the electrical test certificate. The Local Authority involved has just contacted the customer and told them as the electrical certificate has not been submitted and the project has been compete for over two years then they are no longer able to supply a building control certificate. I have been involved in the building trade for many years and this is the first instance of being told there is a deadline of two years from completion in which the Local Authority can submit a building control certificate. Please could you advise as to what the position is?
